I Love Being Colombian

My inspiration when creating art comes mostly from my family and culture. I am in love with my Colombian heritage and find beauty in the vibrant colors used in Colombian traditions, clothes, and architecture. My parents have taught me the importance of perseverance and hard work, and I translate those lessons into my art by striving to make every project better than the last. My brother has shown me the impact of art through his musical performance. I find meaning in my work so that I can impact my audiences as my brother does. My grandparents and extended family shower me with love and support, motivating me when times are hard. I take pride and inspiration from my family members and the culture that unifies us. Each aspect of my Colombian culture pushes me to create more art that connects us.
Creating art allows me to follow my passion for sharing impactful stories that give a voice to communities historically excluded from our media. Art is a broad skill I use to tell a wide spectrum of stories through different mediums. I also see painting as a way to share my own culture and stories in ways that showcase the beauty of being Colombian. As I create art, I learn more about myself and my culture. I seek to create a deeper connection with my roots through my art in hopes of simultaneously sharing the gorgeous aspects of Colombia with the rest of the world.
